“Once in a while you hear a musician that stops you in your tracks and you can’t ignore.
Upon hearing Germana La Sorsa for the first time a few years ago I was blown away by her individual and unique style of singing, I was lucky enough to hear her live, my first thoughts were that she sings with a beautifully clear and warm tone with shades of the Brazilian iconic vocalist Flora Purim.”

“...a beautifully inventive and explorative work. Germana’s light and graceful vocals weaving in and out throughout as she skilfully interacts with the musicians.”
- Mala Waldron
"It's a thoughtful, original and very musically satisfying album."
- Alison Bentley, London Jazz News
"Nudging boundaries as she goes, La Sorsa satisfies her sonic curiosity by using her jazz vocal virtuosity in familiar and extraordinary ways to lead her fine ensemble on an exploration of the listenable end of the jazzant-garde, where the wide open spaces and odd turns encourage you to question what you knew."

With her debut album “Vapour”, Italian Jazz Singer and Storyteller Germana Stella La Sorsa has set out to break down both aesthetic and musical jazz conventions in a melting pot of styles.
After relocating from Puglia to London, Germana’s unique talent was quickly recognised leading to performances at some of the most prestigious London jazz venues.
The move to London inspired La Sorsa to compose new material and this creative impetus eventually led to the composition of much of the music on her debut album: Vapour.
In its style and conception, the music is very eclectic, crossing the boundaries of genre but steeped in modern sounds with a nod to the avant-garde. Recorded with a Hammond Trio, Germana has channeled a wide range of influences into a contemporary jazz album that includes the music of Frank Zappa and Hermeto Pascoal.
The tunes are full of heavy grooves and rich in electrifying moments with captivating melodies enhanced by Germana’s distinctive instrumental use of her voice, coloured with effects and harmonies.
Germana entered the studio together with long time collaborator Sam Leak on Hammond organ and heavy weight stalwarts of the London jazz scene Nick Costley-White on guitar and Jay Davis on drums.
Together they have created a modern, open and sophisticated album, fully tuned in to the current wave of contemporary UK jazz.
Vapour is now available on all major platforms.
"The music is stimulating but never banal, the space between improvisation and written parts is fresh, seamless and the interplay between the musicians is perfectly balanced."

After relocating to London in 2017, Germana's unique talent was quickly recognised leading to developing her own projects (including JiC_Jazz in Cinema_Project, alongside the english double bass player Joe Boyle) and performances at most of the main London jazz venues - such as the iconic Ronnie Scott's, Vortex Jazz Club, Toulouse Lautrec Jazz Club, Oliver's Jazz Bar and Kansas Smitty's.

"Germana is very focused on helping me to develop my own style and feeling. She is flexible and responsive – always happy for me to choose repertoire that appeals to me, for example. She constantly builds my confidence, encouraging me always to focus on what I feel I’ve done well – a very valuable habit. She is very professional, always organised and well prepared, and packs a lot into an hour. I look forward to every lesson."
"If you are looking for a bit of support with your singing and would like to further your knowledge, you seriously won't regret Germana's lessons!
I don't know where I'd be without her musically, in the last year I have gained confidence, knowledge, skill, performance, music theory, Jazz trivia - the list is endless!"
